SENECA ALLEGANY CASINO BREAKS GROUND FOR NEW 220-ROOM RESORT HOTEL
Facility will bring 450 new jobs to the area
SALAMANCA, NEW YORK - Seneca Allegany Casino took a significant step toward the future this afternoon, starting the process for one of the area's most significant development projects.
Seneca Nation Treasurer Maurice John was joined by members of the Seneca Nation Tribal Council and representatives from Seneca Gaming Corporation as Seneca Allegany Casino officially broke ground for a 220-room resort hotel.
"Today marks an important milestone for Seneca Allegany Casino," Treasurer John said. "This new hotel will expand the possibilities of what Seneca Allegany Casino can become and enhance the world-class atmosphere that our patrons already enjoy when they visit us."
Scheduled for a partial opening in October 2006, the new Seneca Allegany Casino and Hotel will feature a combination of luxury accommodations, world-class gaming excitement and an array of dining options.
The project will signify the switch of the Seneca Allegany Casino gaming floor from the current site, which was established as a temporary casino, into the new hotel. The new Seneca Allegany Casino and Hotel will boast 64,500 square feet of gaming, including more than 2,100 slot machines and more than 40 table games. Future plans for the current casino space include a large-scale event center.
Also included in the hotel's plans are a new steakhouse, an Italian restaurant and a 24-hour caf, all of which will complement the popular Thunder Mountain Buffet.
Since opening its doors on May 1, 2004, Seneca Allegany Casino has attracted more than 2 million visitors and generated more than $12 million in revenue for New York State in its first eight months of operation, more than $1 million of which was returned to the local economy.
"Seneca Allegany Casino has been tremendously successful since its opening and we are excited to add a wonderful new hotel to one of the region's premier entertainment destinations," Joseph D'Amato, Senior Vice President, Seneca Gaming Corporation, said. "We want more people to discover our jewel in the hills of Salamanca."
At 11 stories tall, the new Seneca Allegany Casino and Hotel will be the tallest structure in the City of Salamanca. The project will also mark the investment of approximately $140 million into the region by the Seneca Nation of Indians, in addition to the $118 million that was invested to establish the existing casino and parking facility.
Seneca Gaming Corporation officials noted that the hotel will create approximately 450 new jobs in the area, to go along with the 850 workers currently employed at Seneca Allegany Casino. The project will also put hundreds of skilled union construction laborers on the job.
"The Seneca Nation has worked diligently to create a vibrant new industry to benefit the Seneca people and the economy of Western New York," John added. "By continuing to invest in Seneca Allegany Casino, as well as in Seneca Niagara Casino, we are paving the way to attract new visitors, create more jobs, and enhance the benefits we generate for the local area. We are extremely proud of our role as one of the leading employers in Western New York."
Seneca Allegany Casino features Vegas-style gaming and a Poker Room. The 122,000 square-foot Casino consists of table games including Blackjack, Craps, Roulette, Caribbean Stud Poker, Let It Ride and 3 Card Poker, more than 1,900 reel-spinning and video slot machines, two snack bars, Thunder Mountain Buffet, Eight Clans Gift Shop, live weekend entertainment and complimentary beverages while gaming. Free parking is available to patrons through complimentary valet services, self-parking areas, and an eight-story garage with covered walkway. The Casino is owned and operated by the Seneca Nation of Indians.
