FLICK BALL FINALS AT SENECA ALLEGANY CASINO
Salamanca, NY, November 2004 - The Western New York area Flick Ball tournament finals are being held at Seneca Allegany Casino on Friday, November 5, beginning at 8 p.m. in the Poker Room. (NOTE: Media will be permitted in this area for this event.)
For those unfamiliar with this sport, it is a football-style game with miniature leather footballs. Teams consist of two players, one male and one female. It is a young sport with average player age of 24.
Today, Flick Ball often is played in local bars and is rapidly becoming one of the hottest games around. So much so that winners from this area competition, sponsored by Budweiser, will receive an all-expenses paid trip to the regional finals set in New York City's Time Square at ESPN Zone. The winners of the regional competition will also receive an all-expenses paid trip to the finals held in Honolulu, where they will receive $10,000 and play at the Pro Bowl in February 2005.
The eight final teams, representing Cattaraugus and Allegany counties, will compete against the eight teams representing Orleans, Genesee and Wyoming counties. Each game will last approximately five minutes and will have a color commentator describing the play-by-play the action. The games will be broadcast throughout monitors at Seneca Allegany Casino during the evening and will be taped for rebroadcast on area television stations.
