The Indian And The White Guy Coming To Seneca Allegany Casino & Hotel

Salamanca, NY, June 2004 - The fair-skinned Scandinavian from Idaho and the Sioux Indian from South Dakota - The Indian and the White Guy - are coming to Seneca Allegany Casino for performances on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, July 15, 16 and 17 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 and available at the Eight Clans Gift Shop, ticketmaster.com and all Ticketmaster locations including Kaufmann's stores.

Although Williams & Ree bill themselves as "The Indian and the White Guy," they can poke fun at almost anything and garner laughs along the way. Their good-humored jesting has made them a perennial favorite all across America.

"We are thrilled to have Williams & Ree as our first national act at Seneca Allegany Casino," said Rickey L. Armstrong, Sr., President, Seneca Nation of Indians. "Our Casino is a perfect venue for up-close-and-personal performers and we look forward to welcoming them and other acts in the future."

Bruce Williams and Terry Ree met in 1968 at Black Hills State College in Spearfish, SD, where they both claimed to be majoring in draft dodging. They began playing together in a band, filling the time between songs with their unique brand of humor. Their jokes became a bigger draw than their music, and so the comedy team was born.

The two polished their act at the famous Comedy Store in Los Angeles during the 1970s. In addition to performing some 200 live concert dates a year, television has played a major role in the Williams & Ree saga. While working on material at his home in South Dakota, fate drew Terry to the television one afternoon and he had a professional revelation. "One day I was watching The Nashville Network (TNN) and called Bruce and said, 'We have to move to Nashville. The Nashville Network needs us.'" In Nashville, the two worked as regulars on "Hee Haw" and were frequent guests on the popular cooking show, "Country Kitchen, with Florence Henderson" in 1986.

For the past 26 years, the two have entertained audiences from coast to coast - sharing stages with such superstars as Garth Brooks, The Oak Ridge Boys, Charlie Daniels and Randy Travis. Their show is a lively, fast-paced mixture of comedy bits, social/political commentary and racial zings entwined with original songs. Jack Hurst of the Chicago Tribune describes their show as "a sort of ethnic-oriented 'Hee Haw' with strong dashes of 'Saturday Night Live.' Playing on their differences is a large part of the Williams & Ree humor."

"The Indian and the White Guy routine was a natural for us right form the start," says Terry Ree. "People never questioned our material or gave us any flack. I mean, I am an Indian and, in fact, we do our act at a lot of Indian conventions and before Indian groups. The truth of the matter is that we pick on everyone, no matter what their background. Actually, I don't like to label it comedy. I just think we entertain people."

With more than a quarter of a century of hectic concert schedules, television and recording projects under their belts, Williams & Ree continue to create a fresh, new approach to their comedy routine while continuing to hone their musical prowess. The pair often can be found entertaining passengers on cruise ships.

Located in the foothills of scenic Salamanca, Seneca Allegany Casino features Vegas-style gaming and high-stakes Bingo. The facility's 48,000 square feet includes a gaming room with table games including Blackjack, Craps, Spanish 21 and 3 Card Poker, more than 1,700 reel and video slot machines, a Bingo and entertainment room, two snack bars, Thunder Mountain Buffet dining room, the Logo Shop retail store, live weekend entertainment and a bus lobby.
